Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Heart Deco Love You Card

I love cardstock and the incredible preprinted patterns that find their way onto our scrapbook and card layouts. But there’s something I like equally as much – creating my own backgrounds with the good quality inks and stamps. When my downstate Delaware customers steered me towards Rubber Stamp Tapestry, I knew I found the perfect medium for creating stunning but simple backgrounds every time.

I created a three-layered card with an A2 cream-colored card base. Layer 2 is Sour Apple Green cardstock from the Paper Cut which is 3 ¾” x 4 ½”. The top layer is made from the cream colored cardstock measuring 3 ¼” x 4”.

I edged all three layers with ME302 Love Letter using my Darice sponge dauber. I created the red heart on the top layer with the Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s heart stencil, my sponge dauber, and ME 302 Love Letter Memento ink. I then punched a heart out of a scrap of cream cardstock using my Fiskar’s Heart Punch, I created color with my sponge dauber and my ME302 and stamped a “love you” sentiment with Versamark ink. I sprinkled the sentiment with Sparkle N Sprinkle EP Black Detail Embossing Powder and heated it with my Heat Gun.

Next I stamped the leaves around the bottom and top layers with ME706 Pistachio and the flourish with ME802 Peanut Brittle. I stamped the middle and top layers with hearts using ME302. I used foam tape to raise each layer above the preceding one and attached the heart on top with foam tape as well.

A New Year's Hug For You

What better way to start 2015 than with a hug! I used two dies and one stamp to create this adorable card. I especially enjoyed using My FavoriteThings Blueprint Die Set 1 to construct the background. Not only is the background stunning, but it is easy to create, construct and coordinate. Then I got to create my Pure Innocence Hugs girl with the die and coordinating stamp. When I added the button, I realized that it was a bit flat. So I pulled out my Scor-tape and white cardstock and started die cutting six buttons. Then I  stacked the sticky side of the die cuts creating a six-layered button. It actually feels a bit like leather once you’ve assembled that many layers. All in all, I think that this is a perfect way to start this new year.

My husband’s birthday is December 31^st, so I decided that this was the perfect time to create a birthday card with three of my favorite dies – two from Elizabeth Craft and one from Impression Obsession.

The Birthday Pop Up card is a Karen Burniston creation and is absolutely brilliant. I started with a 4.25” x 11” black card base, scored it at the 5.5” and folded it over. I then took a 12” x 12” piece of American Craft’s Pebbles Black Dot Cardstock and cut it to 4” x 11”. This is part of the Pebbles Basics collection and features a gingham print on one side and polka dots on the other

I used both sides of the cardstock to create this card. I cut out the stars with a white cardstock background on Scor Tape and dipped them in my Microfine Glitter to add some twinkle to the project. Of course, the photo doesn’t do the bling justice, but it works great.

I love, love, love the Impression Obsession Gift Stack cut-out and discovered that it works well in a variety of format. I used it as a “window” cut on some of my Christmas cards. And I discovered that it works great as a 3-D pop up on this card. I can’t wait to use it on some scrapbook layouts!

Celebrate Dad with Alcohol Inks

 

 

I love the work that our design team member is doing with Hot Off the Press. Here are her notes for this card featuring HOTP's Masculine Collage stamp:

CELEBRATE DAD (ALCOHOL INKS)

Select the paper colors and alcohol inks you want to use in advance. For this sample, the emphasis was on blues and greens

Cut glossy paper to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. *NOTE - Glossy paper for printing pictures does NOT work

Working on a craft sheet, select 2-3 colors of alcohol inks.  Drop 2-3 drops of the selected colors on the felt side of a wooden applicator.  Place dots next to each other.  Using felt inked applicator dab inks onto glossy paper covering entire surface. 

Very sparingly drop blending solution on inked paper to pull some color out.  DO NOT HEAT SET.  Let air dry.

Trim inked paper to 5 x 3 3/4

Using solvent ink pad (Black StazOn) stamp image and words over inked surface

Metallic gel pens in silver and blue were used to accent image

Take your folded card stock (blue) and cut/punch corners with decorative design

Take next layer of card stock (green), trim to 5 1/4 x 4, cut/punch corners with decorative design, adhere blue folded card stock

Attach completed stamped image

Fast and Simple Card

Betty Speer is our first design team member and cardmaking teacher from lower Delaware. This is her first Scrappigators tutorial. 

Whether you need a quick thank you card or want to make several ahead so you’ll have one when you need it. I made this sweet A-2 Thank You card  /using my new Sizzix  Framelits Die Fancy Frame Flip-Its 2 die set, paper left over from another project and a sentiment stamp from my stash. The project took less than 30 minutes to cut and assemble. I used my Fancy Frame Flip-Its 2, two solids and two print cardstocks from my stash a sentiment stamp and adhesive.  And, of course, you need a die cutting machine that's compatible with the Sizzix Framelits dies. The best part is that all the shapes and images are included in the Sizzis package. 

Using the Sizzix Fancy Frame Flip-Its #2 Die Set - create a fast and easy card, making excellent use of leftover papers.  Start by picking out solid cardstock and coordinated leftover papers.  Run your solid card stock through your Sissix (or like machine) for base of card.  Notice how all the scor lines are in place for you.

 Next, select the coordinated decorative paper.  Cut out the left and right side panels of your card using the appropriate die.

 Then cut and the label(s) and stamp with appropriate sentiment.

  

Now assemble - glue each panel to the appropriate side of your card, layer saying in center of larger label and glue to center of "flip" in card.  Add a touch "bling" to the saying and you have a fast and beautiful card for any occasion.

The Card

I’ve been planning to do this project ever since I added the Elizabeth Craft - Karen Burniston dies to our inventory. It’s a relatively easy project to do. I cut the “pop-up” part out of both print and solid cardstocks. I decided it was easier to you the print cardstock as my base and to cut the solid in half to serve as my sky background. I cut a 2” wide piece of black cardstock and folded to create the card’s outer spine (not shown). I used the “cloud shapes” and flowers from the All Season’s Tree die. The Katy Label die is optional, but serves as an ideal spot to share your personal signature or comments. I colored the birds with my Copic markers and used Tombow adhesive to stick everything together. One final note: I could find plain twine, so I colored red-and-white string with B100 black to convert it to a “black” twine. I love doing more with less.

This card took less than a half hour to make thanks to the simplicity of Sizzix die 659173. The cardstocks and paper came from my stash. I have several dozen pre-cut and pre-glittered cupcakes in my stash, so I pulled a couple of those to color with the colors noted above. “Birthday Wishes” came from my Sparkle N Sprinkle stamp set 402. I stamped the image with Memento ME607 - Nautical Blue. I made this card for my product sample board.
